Tujibebe MCAs pledges loyalty to governor Wamatangi

Elected members of the Kiambu County assembly on Tujibebe party will work in solidarity and support governor Wamatangi's administration.

Tujibebe party is led by former governor William Kabogo who lost to Wamatangi (UDA) in the August concluded election.

Tujibebe Party scooped six seats and its members have been selected to chair powerful committees in the County assembly.

Speaking to Opera News, Kiamwangi MCA (Tujibebe), Kung’u Smart was recently selected as the Vice-chair of the Public Accounts and Investment Committee, and also a member of Water, Public service, and Welfare in the Kiambu assembly.

Other candidates from Kabogo’s party selected to powerful committees include Lawrence Mwaura - Tung’ang’a ward (Agriculture, Education and also will serve in the Speakers Panel), Peter Wainaina – Karuri Ward (Finance, Trade and will also serve on the speaker panel.

Others on the list include Nduta Kimani – Biashara Ward who will serve in Education, Youth, and Powers & Privilege committees among others.

Kung’u said that Tujibebe Party is an affiliate party of Kenya Kwanza and they will accord Wamatangi the respect and the support he deserves.

He said they will play their oversight roles as envisioned in the Constitution while at the same time facilitate implementation of development projects.

He further said that he is optimistic that the executive, the legislature, and the county government will work as a team.

“I would like to state that, this assembly will be different from the past one, and going forward there will be no push and pull between the executive and the legislature,” Kung’u said.

About two years ago, the Kiambu assembly hit headlines after they impeached Ferdinand Waititu who had only served for two years.

They accused him of gross misconduct and misappropriation of public funds.

Former chairman of Mount Kenya MCAs caucus Charles Mwangi Ng’ang’a said that elected leaders should work in unison with the governor to enhance service delivery.

He asked the MCAs to keep in mind the oath that they took upon admission to the County Assembly to represent and advance the greater public good.

 “I would like to urge the members of the County assemblies to champion the interests of the public and ensure that the governor fulfils campaign promises, “he said.
