The two leaders have been having a political rivalry as they come from the same region but they have decided to unite to support Raila. clashing over the leadership of the Meru county with observers noting that CS Munya is planning to come back and vie for the county's gubernatorial seat come 2022.
On Monday 18th of October, The two leaders hosted the former Prime minister and ODM party leader Raila Odinga in Meru county as they have decided to back him in his presidential run come 2022.
Speaking to the electorates during the rally, Kiraitu reminded voters from Meru County to vote for Raila in the 2022 General Elections with the promise that he will revive the miraa market.
"Baba (Raila) is well-known for the fight of the country's second liberation, would you want him to fight for miraa? Do you want Baba to fight for the youth? You people are the real army for Raila," Kiraitu told the crowds in Meru.
CS Munya also reminded the crowd of the struggle Raila has gone through to ensure democracy is attained in the country. Munya also insisted that the time has reached for the Meru community to ensure Raila has won the presidency come next year.
"You know that Baba (Raila) is our defender and he has fought for Kenya's democracy for years. His time to lead the country come next year has come," Munya told the crowd.
