A popular member of parliament from the Nyanza region has been declared persona non grata at a top entertainment club based in Nyanza.
According to sources aware of this development, the MP was blacklisted owing to his recent move against Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga. The club owner is said to be furious with the MP for abandoning his party chief.
Word has it that the owner of this club was a close friend of the said MP, who even funded part of his campaign in the August 2022 general election.
The two had a nasty fallout recently after the MP warmed up to President William Ruto’s government. The lawmaker in question was among the eight ODM MPs who visited Ruto at the statehouse and later snubbed Raila’s Nyanza tour to meet deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
Staff at this establishment have since been instructed not to serve food or drinks to this MP and his visitors when he visits. More so, security guards have also been ordered to deny him entry into the nightclub.
This comes at a time when neighbors of the said MP have also turned hostile towards him for betraying opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The last time he visited his village; residents barricaded the road leading to his home and pelted stones at his motorcade. He was forced to turn and go spend the night in a hotel in Kisumu city. Things have been tough for him back home ever since he dumped the opposition and embraced the government of the day.
