Senators disagreed on the validity of the Political Parties Amendment Bill 2021 on the second day of the special session on Wednesday. However the bill has been passed by the senate.
House Majority Leader Samuel Poghisio, who introduced the bill, argued that it was long overdue and would streamline the activities of political parties across the country.
Elgeyo Marakwet Kipchumba Murkomen has reacted to the passage of the bill, saying that let no one comes crying after April nominations.
Majority leader said "It is impossible to exaggerate the importance of political parties for democracy. "Inclusiveness is the foundation of a strong, robust democracy, which political parties and representative institutions are in a critical position to protect".
He claimed that, the Bill would allow political parties greater autonomy by increasing individual and public engagement, which would promote democracy in the country in the long run.
