According to an analysis conducted by the Media Council of Kenya, Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga received 61.2% of the media attention, but his opponent, Kenya Kwanza candidate William Ruto, received 38%.
The analysis conducted between April and June 2022 found that George Wajackoya of the Roots Party received 0.54 percent of media coverage.
David Omwoyo, chief executive officer of MCK, claims the research was undertaken after a presidential candidate complained of unfair coverage.
"We examined the amount of time given to each contender in newspapers, radio, and many television channels," he stated in a televised address on Friday.
In addition, Martha Karua (Odinga's running mate) received 78.8 percent coverage, Rigathi Gachagua of UDA- 20.99 percent coverage, and Justina Wambui (Roots Party) received 0.2% coverage.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has since approved four candidates for the president. They are William Ruto, Raila Odinga, George Wajackoya, and Waihiga Mwaure.
