In the battle to succeed President Uhuru from the country's highest office, politicians have stepped forward in campaigns as they seek Kenyans' support; nevertheless, Dp Ruto is in difficulty in the vote-rich areas of Mount Kenya with fewer than 34 days till the August elections.
The political calculus in the area appears to have changed in favor of Raila and the group now that the Azimio coalition is running Martha Karua as its running mate.
A group of Mount Kenya elders supporting Dp William Ruto has made demands of the second in command about the six-person voting system. They refuse to endorse it because they believe the attempt is impracticable for the areas.
Despite being ardent supporters of The KKA, the leaders of Chama cha Kazi, led by Peter Munyiri, said that they feel left out. In joint rallies, the team claimed they are not acknowledged, and they urged Dp. Ruto to assume leadership and guarantee equality within the coalition.
