The debate on whether The Coastal region should form or not form a party of their own is still eliciting mixed reactions from different Political pundits. The region that has been been always behind the opposition chief the former prime minister RT. Hon Raila, had hinted at forming a party of their own before the 2022 general elections.
However, The top national political leaders both Raila and Ruto have been dismissing such plans terming it tribal groupings. Raila while addressing residents of Taita Taveta County yesterday, urged the region to remain in ODM instead of forming a regional party.
Reacting on the same, Amani National Congress member of Parliament representing Matuga Constituency, Hon. Kassim Tandaza Sawa, has termed Odinga's statement as unfortunate, he has urged Raila to let Coastal region also grow just the same way his Nyanza region has become independent.

Hon. Kassim said that their intention is just to be independent politically just like other regions, he added that the coastal region comprises of many tribes that should be united under one party, he was speaking during an interview with TV 47 Kenya.
