The Deputy President, Dr William Ruto’s worries must be increasing by each passing day. It is now clear that he will not get the president’s support to clinch the top seat. Recently, when the president went to Kibra, his sentiments hinted that he is not going to support his deputy.
Another thing that should worry the Deputy President is that his key opponent, Mr Raila Odinga, has started making inroads in Mt. Kenya. Something that many people thought he could not do as the area was solely behind the Deputy President who has been going there for more than two years now. What should be worrying Ruto and his advisor’s more is that Mr Odinga is making this movements alone. What will it look like if the president decides to join him?
Besides that, the who is who in Mt Kenya seems to be rallied behind Mr Odinga. The Mount Kenya Foundation seems to be in favour of Odinga’s presidency. This is something that might be giving the Deputy President sleepless nights as this group of wealthy businessmen from Mount Kenya region is believed have influenced past elections.
What most people are waiting for now is to see whether the Mount Kenya Foundation will also meet the Deputy President to hear the plans he has for the region. This is because the wealthy businessmen from Central Kenya are also planning to host the One Kenya Alliance principals so that the principals can tell them their agenda for the vote-rich region.
