Deputy president William Ruto is currently meeting stakeholders and opinion shapers from Mombasa for an economic forum whose aim is to discuss the development agenda for the region. The issue of the port of Mombasa playing out in the open with both Ruto and Nyali MP taking on the current governor.

Nyali MP Mohammed Ali took on Hassan Joho accusing him of stalling the progress of the port and awarding contracts to close friends and family members. The vocal leader saying that the port has been benefiting a few individuals who are close to the governor.
The gathered crowd erupted with songs of condemning the leader saying that Ruto once elected president should ensure that the port does not seem to be a business of few individuals. "Naibu Wa Rais Hii Port ya Mombasa ni Mali ya Umma", said one of the speakers who was granted opportunity to speak.
