Kilifi Governor Kingi who has been a strong ally of Raila Odinga has emerged as one of those coastal leaders pushing for a common party for the coastal people in the run up to 2022. His recent moves has elicited mixed reactions on why he is hell bent to in having a single party in the coast.
The region which has been for many years been under the firm grip of ODM party and ODM leader Raila Odinga seems to be shifting its allegiance and forming its own path. During his coastal tour a few weeks ago the ODM leader tried to calm the situation but it seems all was in vain.
Today another group of minority members in the region has come up to support the new initiative by Kilifi Governor of uniting the region to come up with a single political party for the benefit of the region. They claim the region has been marginalized for long and it was time for the region to form its own path.
