Following a private meeting held on Saturday in Nyeri County, popular Gideon Moi's ally Hon. Weston Wanjohi has warned that there is no leader from Mt. Kenya currently who can defeat DP Ruto in running for the presidency. Through his Facebook page, Hon. Wanjohi said that the community only needed a person who would lead them in the right direction, supporting Justin Muturi for the position. He questioned why one would wish to lead the community if they had no intentions of running for the presidency.
“Currently no living Kikuyu can beat our main opponent Ruto. We only need someone who can lead the community in the right direction. I believe Muturi fits the bill. In fact, we need to appreciate the support we have been getting from Mt. Kenya East. Why do you want to lead the community if you are not presidential candidates?” Stated one of his Facebook posts.
In other posts, Hon. Wanjohi said that Kieleweke are not as organized as TangaTanga and asked them to get more organized. Following the meeting in Nyeri, the leaders who were present said that they had resolved to unite the region and strive for a common goal.
Speaker Muturi too hosted more than 200 teachers leaders at his Embu home. In the meeting, the leaders promised to support Muturi in his push for a united region. A date was also set for another meeting with leaders from the region.
