William Ruto's Presidential Win Will Affect Kakamega And Mombasa Gubernatorial Races(Opinion)

The Kakamega and Mombasa gubernatorial election was postponed to August 23,2022 because of a mix up in the printing of the ballot papers. However, speculations riffle after William Ruto was announced as a president elect by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairperson, Wafula Chebukati.

The announcement of William Ruto as the president elect may affect the gubernatorial race.In Mombasa, Abdulswamad Nassir will be vying on the Orange Democratic Movement party while Hassan Omar is vying for the gubernatorial seat under the United Democratic Alliance Party,a party headed by William Ruto.In Kakamega County, Fernandez Barasa will be facing off Cleophas Malala of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

The presidential results may affect the contest as the residents might get demoralized especially those who were supporting the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition as a result, they might not turn out to vote for the gubernatorial candidates within the coalition. There might be less voter turnout however, the regions being ODM strongholds,it is still unpredictable on who will win the gubernatorial races.

Do you think William Ruto's win will affect the gubernatorial race? What is your opinion? Feel free to comment below.
