President William Ruto on Friday 9th Unveiled five multi billon projects in Western Kenya. Ruto launched the operation of commercial flights at Kakamega Airport which will now receive planes directly without stoppages at Kisumu International Airport. Kakamega Airport was rehabilitated in a collaboration between national and county governments.
About eight years ago, a military chopper carrying William Ruto while still deputy president, was forced to land at Kisumu international airport due to poor state of Kakamega Airstrip. The condition was communicated to authorities at Wilson Airport moments before Ruto boarded Air force chopper forcing the pilot to fly to Kisumu. Hence determined to modernise it.
Moreover, the president lauded the work of former governor Wycliffe Oparanya for constructing Kakamega Teaching and Referral Hospital, thus he promised to fully stock it. Ruto has also commissioned the construction of the hostels at Masinde Muliro University. He also ordered ministries of interior and land to ensure that the grabbed land around the university is recovered and taken back to right full owner.
He further asked ministry of education to facilitate the construction of a flyover footbridge at MMUST.
On the other hand, he explained that all the promises they made during campaigns will be accomplished.
