Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on Thursday, November 25, was in Kajiado county where he presided over the installation ceremony of Principal Chief Wilson Mpapayo. Matiang'i was appointed as the Cabinet Secretary for interior security after the then CS Joseph Nkaiserry.
While addressing the people of Kajiado, Matiang'i revealed what president Kenyatta told him after the demise of Nkaiserry in 2017 after he had been selected to replace him. President Uhuru lauded the late Nkaiserry for his dedication to serve the country and also praised other Maa leaders like the late George Saitoti and Joseph Ole Lenku.
"When Nkaiserry passed away, Uhuru appointed me to be the successor. He urged me to ensure the deceased's succession plans in Kajiado are completed. We already gazetted all sub counties Nkaiserry listed. We shall appoint commissioners as Nkaiserry wanted," Matiang'i said.
The appointment of Matiang'i as the CS for interior was advised to president Kenyatta by the National Security Council in 2017.
