The departing Commissioner of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Prof. Abdi Guliye, has said that he is happy with the contributions he made to the organization during his time there.
At a press conference on Monday, Commissioner Guliye said that despite the difficulties he has faced, his six years as the head of the electoral commission have been fulfilling.
"We always upheld the rule of law and our oath of office. I am confident that I gave my country and my people my all as I leave office "He made this observation at the release of the Post Election Evaluation Report for the election in August 2022.
"I leave IEBC better and stronger than when I arrived. I have no excuses to offer anyone as I depart. It is obvious that we would need to be replaced, so I just carried out my duties in accordance with the oath of office that I took in 2017."
Commissioner Guliye continued by recalling the several occasions they had to face challenges, including the most recent one that was seen in the Bomas of Kenya following the elections in August 2022.
