The deputy president together with the UDA troops have stormed Laikipia county for an empowerment tour. Laikipia is one of the counties that is associated with the Mt Kenya region, where vote-hunting has become a frequent norm by different presidential candidates.
The second in command then proceeded to Nyahururu town to address a huge crowd that had gathered. However, a dramatic scene unfolded when Kandara member of parliament was giving her speech.
Kandara MP, Alice Wahome.
The charged crowd heckled her making it hard for the parliamentarian to continue with her address. The chants became even more intense and the legislator had no option other than cutting her speech. It took the intervention of the deputy president to calm the masses. Ruto went ahead to invite another parliamentarian to speak.
It is still not clear what angered Nyahururu residents to an extent of them heckling to Alice Wahome. Nevertheless, Alice has been accused of hauling unprintable insults to politicians who do not subscribe to the hustler nation. She was accused of insulting Kanini Kega when Ruto visited Kieni last month, and this did not go well with the people.
