A section of political leaders and the youth from North Eastern Region Counties have promised to support Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, stating that he is the only leader who has their interests at heart.
The leaders from Mandera, Garissa and Marsabit led by Jubilee Nominated Senator Falhada Iman and Garissa Woman Representative Anab Gure, dismissed the recently unveiled Upya Movement by their counterparts from the region, who stated that the political movement will be used to negotiate on behalf of the constituents.
"We will not accept to be told which direction to take, we are clever now. The Upya Movement is being fronted by the leaders who are seeking personal interests, we will not accept. You will soon hear some of our communities being left out of the movement. They are the same leaders who are supposed to be giving us solutions," posed on the leaders.
She went on to allege that a number of the leaders within the Upya Movement have been giving out job opportunities to their close friends, relatives without considering other people.
Ruto assured the leaders present that the UDA government will ensure that their needs are taken care of.
