Speculations As Vocal Governor Skips Ruto's Campaign Rallies

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi was conspicuously missing as Deputy President William Ruto took his presidential campaigns to the coastal county on Sunday.

Kingi, the Pamoja African Alliance party leader joined Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Alliance one month ago after decamping from Azimio la Umoja coalition, which is led by ODM leader Raila Odinga.

But for the short period he has been at the DP's camp, Kingi has found himself in some endless fights with Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, a key Ruto ally who has been with him since 2018.

Could it be that the bitter rivalry pitting him with Jumwa could be the reason she opted to skip Ruto's series of political activities in Kilifi County?

As one of the key heavyweights in Kenya Kwanza Alliance, it was unusual for the former Magarini MP to skip Ruto's rallies in his own political backyard.

Whereas the Governor could have been held elsewhere, his absence cannot skip scrutiny especially from the rival Azimio la Umoja coalition.

Having skipped the DP's rallies, little or nothing has been heard from the Governor, who until recently was a key ally of the former Prime Minister in the Coast region.

On social media, some people are even speculating that perhaps, Kingi could be on his way out of Ruto's political axis.
