Fake Reports: Nyeri Governor's Seat Doesn't Interst Me, Says CS Mucheru

ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru said he was not interested in running for governor of Nyeri in the 2022 general election.

Mucheru was reacting to reports that he and his health counterpart, Mutahi Kagwe, were monitoring the positions.

“I think that before I continue, let me first of all clarify the question of interest. You may know that you are referring to what the media has said about myself and your namesake Mutahi Kagwe and the question of our interest in the post of governor of this great county of Nyeri, ”he said.

“Let me assure you that we will continue to work together and that those interests are not there. "

Mucheru said their interests were purely to bring development to Nyeri.

The CS said in its first meeting with Governor Mutahi Kahiga that it was concerned that Safaricom and other operators were struggling to install fiber optic in the county, which was attributed to lack of goodwill of the county government at the time.

During the meeting, Mucheru said they were in agreement to make sure development takes place, adding that a lot has happened in the county since then.

"And so rest assured that our interests are very much aligned and we will continue to work together in this way because that is what we want," he said.

“A lot of questions are asked about our views, but for things that are above our pay grade, we don't necessarily comment. We only comment on those that concern us directly.

The CS made the remarks after Governor Kahiga said on Friday that Mucheru had other interests beyond being a CS.

“It also reminds us that CS Mucheru has interests in Nyeri beyond being CS,” Kahiga said.

They were speaking at Wambugu ATC in Nyeri town when Mucheru officiated the launch of the Kenya Communications Authority Radio Spectrum Monitoring Station aimed at improving the efficiency of spectrum resource management of frequencies in the country.

Mucheru, who preferred to avoid politics in his speeches, recently launched scathing attacks on Vice President William Ruto and his con artist story.

The SC claims that the DP is misleading young people with the narrative and that he will not sit down and look at the misled young people in the future.
