Ruto Admits That he Can be Defeated in 2022, But Only if One Thing Happens

Deputy President William Ruto now says that the only way his opponents in the 2022 presidential race can beat him is if they unite and face him as a joint unit.

He is among the percieved frontrunners in the contest, which has attracted a number of other candidates, among them ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Also in the race are the members of the One Kenya Alliance, a union of four top politicians who have come together in pursuit of the same seat.

The DP on Friday said that the team can only beat him if it succeeds to settle on one candidate, failure to which he will be declared winner by mid morning.

He spoke in Kakamega County, while also bashing the team for wasting too much time working on alliances rather than organising itself to face him.

"Of all these gentlemen, isn't there one who can face me? Let them unite and pick a candidate because the only way they can have a contest with me is if they unite but if they come separately I will defeat them very early in the morning," said the DP.

He also took shots at the team for making it a habit to dismiss his 'Bottom Up' idea, wondering why they would want to use this as their campaign agenda.

He said that rather, they should come up with their own agenda and give Kenyans an alternative if they think that his agenda isn't the best for the people.

"They should get their own plan like our 'Bottom Up' and stop criticizing it. Let them get an alternative . It is not enough to criticize it, you need to come up with your own," he added.

He made the remark only three days after making similar comments in Lamu, where he swore to defeat Raila very early in the morning on the election day.
