Chief Justice Martha Koome has told Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati to do things the right way and avoid subjecting Kenyans to what was witnessed in 2017. Koome has told the IEBC that failing to conduct free and fair elections will lead to nullification of election results. Koome says that nothing will stop her from ensuring that Kenyans get electoral justice those in the IEBC who want to interfere with election results will face the law.

A section od stakeholders have been crying that the IEBC wants to influence some candidates in the election disadvantaging others. The manual register issue is still causing trouble between IEBC and the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition. IEBC has maintained that they will only be using the electronic register without the manual back up but Raila and his team says that there is a need to have a backup in case of a failure and breakdown.

Koome says that failing to address the issues raised by candidates is creating an unfair playing ground for candidates. It is these grounds that the complaining candidates will present before the court in case the elections do not go their way.
