Former Mandera Central MP, Senior Counsel Abdikar Mohamed In For Nairobi Gubernatorial By-election.

Abdikar Mohamed, former Mandera Central MP (from 2007 to 2013) has shown interest in vying for Nairobi County gubernatorial position. The lawyer was recently awarded senior counsel rank by retired Chief Justice Maraga.

Abdikar is remembered for chairing the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) on Constitution and working in the Office of the President as constitutional and legal affairs adviser from 2014 to 2017.

The former MP who is a lawyer and also a businessman is considering vying for the Nairobi County top seat on either Safina party (his former party which took him to parliament in 2013), former President Kibaki's Party of National Unity (PNU) or run as an independent candidate.

Competition for the gubernatorial seat is now stiff with Bishop Margaret Wanjiru of UDA, Dennis Waweru, Agnes Kagure, Eric Mokua, Betty Adera and Miguna Miguna showing interest in clinching the seat.
