MP Otiende Amollo Caught in Fresh Trouble As Voters Move to Court to Stop his Parliamentary Bid

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo is trouble as his efforts to defend his parliamentary bid seems to be facing rough challenges over some of the questionable activities associated with his office in the last five years.

According to the reports by Nation Africa, three voters from Rarieda Constituency have move to and petitioned court to bar the IEBC from clearing Otiende Amollo name in his bid to defend his seat.

They have claimed that there has been looting of public funds, inconsistencies in accounting for the funds and unsupported withdrawals made from the CDF account.

Such claims are with regards to the report given out by the Auditor General Nancy Gathungu in February 11th 2022.

According to the Auditor General's report, they were unable to confirm validity, completeness and accuracy of some of the financial statements concerning the Constituency.

The petitioners have also made claims that there have been some cases of irregular and unclear award of tenders for the construction of administration block and also cases related to bursary funds.

If their petition goes successfully, the Rarieda MP who has been known by many as one of the top performing leaders in the country, may find himself losing the chance of defending his seat.

He is currently considered as the most popular candidate in Rarieda and stands higher chances of winning the seat again with ODM party ticket against his competitors who are running on independent tickets while others with unpopular parties in the region.

Only this case is what remains as his main obstacle in defending his seat for another five solid years.

He is however yet to come out to defend himself from such claims by the three petitioners.
