This year is going to be very critical for education stakeholders. It is packed with major events, most of them carry-overs from the disrupted school calendar of 2020.

The Saturday Standard highlights some of the critical players charged with regaining what was lost in 2020 and ensuring the education sector meets its 2021 obligations as well as some of the critical items in their to-do-list for the New Year.

Nakuru County Assembly has passed a supplementary budget allowing the executive to spend an additional Sh208 million on health workers this financial year.

The allocation is part of a Sh727 million supplementary budget tabled in the House by Budget and Appropriation Committee Chairperson Joel Karuri and passed by MCAs. 

Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has blamed his political nemesis in the vote-rich Rift Valley for his ‘humiliation’ on Saturday morning in Nandi county.

During the incident, Senator Moi's journey to kapsisinywa in nandi county was cut off by youths allied to William Samoe Ruto for they claim coronation was already done to Ruto it can't be done twice.

The Central Organization of Trade Unions (Cotu) has hit out at the government for introducing “unreasonable taxes”, saying it should not overburden the people.

In a statement on Friday, Cotu Secretary-General Francis Atwoli noted that Kenyans are suffering the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, whose first local case was reported in March 2020.
