Bitter Kalenjin leaders have urged the Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga to exterminate corrupt officials at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB). According to the elders who were speaking during a conference in Eldoret, farmers usually queue for weeks outside NCPB centres after harvesting their produce, with lories loaded to the capacity. NCPB is Kenya's principal maize marketplace where farmers pay lorry operators a daily logistical fee of 6000 shillings.
The farmers then end up owing the receptors 84, 000 shillings in just two weeks. They went on to say that the government has set a minimum price of Ksh. 4200 for a 90kg bag of maize. The frantic farmer is then approached by a stockbroker at the NCPB gate, who tells them that the store is filled and that they must return home with their harvest. However, the broker offers to purchase the goods for Ksh. 2,000 each bag.

The disgruntled farmer accepts to sell their harvest for peanuts on the dollar. The broker then transports the corn to NCPB facilities, where it is unloaded by lories, and the broker is generously compensated at the pegged price of Ksh. 4200. The leaders, however, hinted that Deputy President William Samoei Ruto, Oscar Sudi and Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen, are the primary characters (brokers) in this game.
