Kalonzo Accepts Loosing By-Election at Home, Congratulates UDA, Independent Candidates

Hours after the residents of Nguu-Masumba ward in Machakos flocked to the polling stations to elect their next MCA, Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper party has come out to concede earlier defeat.

Through a statement released on Thursday evening, Kalonzo's party congratulated Independent candidate Timothy Maneno of winning the hotly contested by-election that saw William Ruto's UDA party also take part.

The party also congratulated its candidate Eshio Mwaiwa and UDA's Daniel Musau for bravely fighting for the seat.

"We take this early opportunity to congratulate Timothy Maneno on winning the Nguu/Masumba Ward seat on an independent ticket. We also thank the other candidates including Wiper candidate Eshio Mwaiwa and UDA's Daniel Musau for putting up a brave fight to capture the seat," read part of the statement.

Wiper, which was floored in its own backyard, said it will respect the decision of the residents, adding that such will not deter them from taking over the country's leadership in 2022.

IEBC is yet to officially declare the winner in the just concluded polls, but all indications are pointing at a win for the independent candidate Timothy Maneno.

According to Dennis Itumbi's unofficial results, Timothy Maneno (Independent) has allegedly won the seat with a total of 2,894 (43%) followed closely in the second position by Ruto's UDA candidate Daniel Kivuva Musau with 2,223 (33%) and Kalonzo's candidate Eshio Maundu Mwaiwa third with 1,601 (24%)

This has exposed Kalonzo Musyoka, who is planning to run for the presidency in 2022 badly, with all pointers indicating that Ruto's UDA party is gaining ground in the region.
