One of the country's well-known leaders, the late president Daniel Moi, too had family problems like any other person.
The fact that his own daughter Doris Chepkorir married someone against his will and defied his wishes is one of the most contentious issues in his family.

Many people know very little to nothing about Doris, one of Moi's daughters. Despite the two's marriage, Moi strongly disapproved of Choge, who would later become his son-in-law.
Another intriguing fact is that Simeon Kiptum, an old assistant minister and a personal friend of mine, had a child named Choge.
Doris married Ibrahim Kiptum Choge in her early years. Jonathan Moi, her brother, and Ibrahim were close friends and co-drivers in safari rallies.
In the course of their marriage, Choge's father insisted that the road accident that claimed his son's life was staged.
