Lungalunga mp Khatib Mwashetani refutes claims that he has withdrawn from the gubernatorial race.The news was in todays news paper that he was contemplating to endorse Lunga'anzi chai.Mwashatani said those spreading the false news were wrong and that as a resident of Kwale county he had every tight to defend the lungalunga seat or run for the gubernatorial race.He urged those vying for political seats to convince the electorates.
"This is to inform my supporters and members of the public that they should ignore the FAKE NEWS and malicious propaganda going round in the media. I want to state that I have not endorsed anybody for the gubernatorial seat in Kwale county and that I have a right to defend the Lungalunga parliamentary seat in 2022. l advice all those vying for the gubernatorial seat to go out and convince Kwale voters why they think they should be given the mandate. My decision to withdraw from the governorship race and to defend my seat as a member of parliament is for the good of the people Lungalunga Constituency, Kwale county and Kenya at large."
Khatib Mwashetani is seeking to run for the gubernatorial seat in 2022 after governor Mvurya's term come to an end.Mvurya was elected in 2013 on the ODM ticket.Khatib Mwashetani is a close ally of the deputy president although he was elected on the ODM ticket.
