As Kenya continues to mourn the loss of third president Mwai Kibaki preparations for the August 9th elections are still ongoing as the election day remains the unchanged. Political aspirants for various seats are declaring their interests. Political parties are conducting party primaries in search of flagbearers of their parties in different races in the country.
The latest aspirant to announce her interest in politics is Migori governor Okoth Obado's wife Hellen Obado who has announced that she will be vying for the women representative position in Migori county. Hellen will be contesting for the position as an independent candidate in the August 9th general elections.
The Migori first lady will face off with Lilian Akugo who is a jubilee party candidate, Dennitah Ghati who has an ODM nomination ticket together with the former radio presenter Josephine Sirega and a businesswoman Fatuma Mohammed who are both vying on independent tickets.
However the fate of who ascends to the women representatives position will be determined by Migori residents in August 9th 2022.
