President Uhuru Kenyatta has been called upon to intervene the killing of elderly people in Kisii by locals.

The increased cases of profiling and burning of the elderly in broad daylight has caught the attention of human rights activists and other organizations dealing with similar issues.

The ambassador for the elderly Mr Kinuthia Wamwangi who works with HelpAge Kenya has pleaded with the head of state to appoint a special panel that will look into the matter.

According to him, the incidents need to be put to a stop and all human rights respected. He requested The President to come into the elderly's rescue.

His plea comes after the Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angweyi strongly condemned the killing of four elderly people accused of practicing witchcraft in the Marani Kisii area on Sunday.

Angweyi urged residents of the constituency he represents not to take the law into their own hands and instead hand over such suspects to the police.

Addressing journalists outside the national assembly on Tuesday, Angweyi urged police officers to speed up the arrest of those who were involved in their killing.
