President Uhuru Kenyatta has scheduled a meeting, the Limuru III conference that will be bringing the region's leadership including Lawmakers, Business tycoons, influential retired politicians in the region that will be chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta on January 22, 2022, Taifa Leo has leaked after an interview with Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria.
Moses Kuria is among the leaders who are pushing for the unity of the region under Mt. Kenya Unity Forum, MUF. NARC-Kenya leader Martha Karua and The Service Party, TSP leader Mwangi Kiunjuri among the leaders advocating for the region to unite under ahead of 2022. “Msimamo wetu ni kuwa lazima wenyeji wa Mlima Kenya wawe na sauti moja. Hilo ndilo lengo kuu la kuandaa kikao hicho,” Moses Kuria Said.
However experts who talked to Taifa Leo revealed that the conference risks splitting the region further. According to these experts, they have cited a meeting that brought together Mt. Kenya leaders held in Embu on September which was Attended by 20 politicians from the region whose main aim was to make the region speak in one language failed to Foster unity in the region.
This failed to bring unity as Deputy President William Ruto's name continues to hault Uhuru's men on the ground.
“Hicho ni kikao kilichopangiwa na mrengo mmoja wa kisiasa unaodai kuwakilisha maslahi ya wenyeji wa Mlima Kenya. Sisi tushaamua kwa pamoja tutamuunga mkono Dkt Ruto kuwania urais 2022. Hivyo, hatuhitaji kualikwa katika vikao vingine vya kuamua ‘mwelekeo wa Mlima’,” Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro said as he rubbished off the meeting.
It is such pronouncements that the experts say that will water down President Uhuru's efforts to bring this region together ahead of 2022 Election.
