Deputy president of Kenya Dr William Ruto has today held a close door meeting where he chaired the 16th Ordinary Session of the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) attended by leaders from both sides of political sides.
Speaking during the event William Ruto said, "We laud counties for the progress made in settling eligible pending bill. We still need to do more on this sticky issue that is affecting many of service providers. The National Treasury and the attorney general must now consult so that away forward is established on the 108 billion ineligible pending bills." He said.
The today's meeting was attended by key top government officials including Council Governors chairman Martin Wambora the Meru governor, PS Devolution Jilulius Korir, Controller of Budget Dr Margaret Nyakango among other leaders.
It is the first time since 2022 that the second in command hold meeting with government officials since their differences escalates with president Uhuru Kenyatta.
