The High Court of Kenya has directed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC to clear without delay the deputy president William Ruto's UDA candidate for the senatorial position, kiambu county Hon Karungo Wa Thang'wa. IEBC had disqualified Karungo Wa Thang'wa on the basis that he was impeached by the county government of Kiambu and that he no longer qualifies to vie for any public office.
However, Karungo Wa Thang'wa through his lawyers filed a petition at the High Court seeking to overturn the IEBC decision and allow him seek the Kiambu senatorial position. In a landmark ruling that has been read by a high Court judge, IEBC will have to clear the UDA candidate saying the basis for disqualification were without merit.

UDA top machinery including it's top blogger and media strategist Dennis Itumbi had alleged that the state was behind the problems Wa Thang'wa was experiencing, but expressed hope that they will triumph finally.
