Ruto has been relying on a section of Mt Kenya leaders who are behind him to try and woo the residents to join his camp ahead of next year’s tough presidential race.
Political Analyst Herman Manyora has however said that Ruto’s team from Mt Kenya will not deliver the support he needs to increase his chances of emerging victorious in the elections.
“When it comes time, Mt Kenya will ask, where are we going? And they cannot seek answers from Ndindi Nyoro, Susan Kihika or Kimani Ichungwah.,” said Prof Manyora.
According to Manyora, despite the region singing and dancing Ruto’s hustler song, the region will listen to President Uhuru Kenyatta, their kingpin, at the time it matters most.
“When the hour of reckoning comes, the GEMA community will listen to Uhuru Kenyatta. Young men may run up and down, dance on the road and sing hustler nation but when the hour of reckoning comes, they will listen to Uhuru Kenyatta,” said Manyora.
