Global Firepower, the agency that assessed the military strength of all African nations, ranked Kenya as the most powerful nation in the East Africa community based on the country's manpower, the capacity of weaponry, geographical location, logistical flexibility, and budgets.

Rankings show Kenya’s army size has changed little since 2015, retaining the badge as the continent’s eleventh most superior force for the second year. PHOTO | BD GRAPHIC

2. 591 armored fighting vehicles,

3. 30 self-propelled guns,

4. 25 towed artillery,

5. 131 aircraft, 17 fighter jets, and 61 helicopters

6. Military personnel 24,150
