The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC)has issued an announcement on when the Kakamega and Mombasa gubernatorial election will be held.The elections were suspended due to unprecedented ballot paper mix-up.
The IEBC chairman stated that the elections will be held immediately the ballot papers are printed.The general election was successful carried out despite the gubernatorial elections being suspended in the regions.
According to the reports by Nation,the IEBC has confirmed that the elections will be held on 23rd August,2022.The polls in Rongai, Kacheliba,Kitui Rural and Pokot South will also be held on the same date.The IEBC commissioner stated that the elections will be held soon because voters will still be in the voting mood.He added that the commission will use the same officers to conduct the elections and will use the same equipments that were used on Tuesday in the region.
