Financial Constraints Push Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial Aspirant to Seek Parliamentary Seat

Financial constraints has forced Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial Aspirant Jonathan Bii to shift to Soy Parliamentary Seat in 2022 general elections. According to sources, Bii’s financers have withdrawn their support, a move that has seen him slow down his activities and concentrate in Soy constituency.

Bii is also said to be worried of Soy MP Caleb Kositany’s clout and his influence in the newly founded UDA party. It is alleged that Bii has confessed his fears over what he terms as his long standing fight with Deputy President William Ruto.

Bii had in the past been at a warpath with DP Ruto as KANU stalwart and fears that he might not secure the party ticket given his long standing affiliatian with KANU.

Sources have divulged that Bii believes he won the Soy Parliamentary Seat in 2017 against Kositany and with the exit of Kositany who has declared his interest in the gubernatorial seat, he has a chance of winning the MP race.

In the gubernatorial race, Bii is said to have sought the blessings of DP Ruto and outgoing Governor Jackson Mandago to no avail. The blessing didn’t come forth due to his realtionship to West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo who has started a new party KUP. Bii is currently serving as Lonyangapuo’s advisor, a factor that has complicated his relationship with DP Ruto.

Bii had been considered a frontrunner alongside DP Ruto allies who include Kositany and Ambassador Julius Bitok.
