A young man from Nairobi's Githurai area has excited many people after his photo went viral on the internet. The man who has been identified as Kelvin Oruru was spotted with a packet of Unga and eggs while waiting to vote.
The 26 year old while talking to a journalist said that he had not taken supper on Monday evening and had woke up to buy the foodstuffs. This was because of the high cost of living that has been affecting Kenyans for months now. He then saw it wise to vote before going home instead of going to the house and coming back to vote again.
Oruru dismissed claims made that he had been bribed the foodstuffs to vote for a particular politician. He maintained his stand that he had woken up early to buy them.
"Sikuwa nimekula usiku kwa sababu bei ya chakula imepanda sana. Saa zingine inakulazimu kutokula ndio uweke pesa kidogo," he said.
