Raila Odinga is fighting hard to retain his previous support bases. One of them of Western Kenya. So far he has not been successful to woo Mudavadi into his side. Ruto has been making behind the scenes contacts with the ANC party leader. This makes Raila to have limited options.
The first of them is whipping all the leaders belonging to the Luhya community to ODM. This move has been abit successful but he needs to have the bigwigs too. The secretary general to ANC party moved to his camp. This hit Mudavadi very hard but Cleophas Malala seems to be his closet confidant.
Raila has been gains in the mountain as opinion polls suggest. To beat his main opponent, he has to outdo him in this region. According to the electoral body, mount Kenya has more than 5 million votes. Raila needs to get more than fifty percent of this to secure his chances.
