African Court Gives Uhuru A Leeway To Extend General Elections

As kenyans wait for their fare to be decided regarding whether 2022 general elections shall be postponed, special Court in the African Union has given it's Members a go ahead of postponing their elections so as to help combat the Covid 19 Pandemic. This is according to a tweet released by former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko.

This May not be good news to the deputy President William Ruto and other presidential candidate hoping against hope to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022. The ruling by the African Court on human rights has given it's Member States a Lee way to extend their general elections. This comes at a time when Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni is seeking for court intervention to have elections postponed Until the electoral body review Constituency boundaries. The idea of postponing 2022 elections by a year has been highly protested by Deputy President William Ruto's allies and civil Societies.
