The ongoing interviews to find the next suitable Chief Justice have really attracted the attention of the public. Many political commentators have been following the vetting process keenly and have criticized the conduct of the interviews. They feel that the questions asked by the Judicial Service Commission panel and the responses given by the CJ candidates show a lot of ignorance on the laws that are clearly given in the Kenyan constitution. It was claimed that the interviews were almost becoming an audition for a place in the theatre.
It is alleged that the panel and the CJ candidates are just making drama and a lot needs to be done to improve on how the vetting process is being done. Many Kenyans admired the audacity of S.C Philip Murgor, the tact of Justice David Majanja, the confidence of Justice Marete and the appeal of Justice Chitembwe. Donald Kipkorir claimed that his classmate Hon. Justice Mohammed Warsame was the best interrogator of the Chief Justice nominees followed by Hon. David Majanja. He added that Anyone wanting to be our Chief Justice must have have their feet put on fire
Yesterday, Friday, 16, April, 2021 during the interrogation of SC Philip Murgor, Justice David Majanja became an internet sensation. However, professor, PLO Lumumba also had to give his remarks on Justice David Majanja.
