Last month majority of the political parties and the formed coalitions had experienced some sort of defections as those who seek to contest in August 9 general elections were keen to find a place where nominations will favor them. Some of them however decided to run as independent candidates like the case of Purity Ngirici who decamped United Democratic Alliance.
The speaker of National Assembly Justin Muturi as earlier rumoured was to contest for presidency in the coming general elections but things seem to go out of its way. He has signed a deal at Hermosa Hotel in Karen, Nairobi to join Deputy President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Alliance team. Muturi is also a leader of Democratic Party (DP) and this adds up the number of parties supporting Ruto's presidency.
Amani National Congress leader Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Masika Wetangula were among the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders who witnessed the signing of the deal on Saturday, April 9.
