Uhuru Is Still Mt. Kenya's Political Kingpin, Says Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi

Kiraitu said to those thinking that the President Uhuru Kenyatta has lost his Footing and will have very little or no influence in next years Presidential contest are very wrong.

This has been the narrative among some political leaders from the President's Mt.Kenya backyard, mostly allies of his deputy William Ruto, who argue that has overtaken the President in the region. Though Uhuru is not a lame duck president as they might want Kenyans to believe, suggesting that he could soon make changes that upset the political arena.

He made it clear that he has not made up his mind on who to support in the 2022 Presidential race adding that his meeting with aspirants should not be seen as endorsement of their candidatures. He said this while clearing the air on the report that he has abandoned speaker Justin Muturi, an aspirant in favour of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

"My phone was overwhelmed by calls from many people all over the country after the Meru leaders meeting in Nairobi with ODM leader Raila Odinga" he said with reference to his meeting with Raila.
