After the Jubilee party has announced that they are not going to field candidates in the various by elections scheduled in March, in Matungu, Kabuchai and Machakos. According to secretary general Raphael Tuju, he said that they are avoiding unecessary showdowns with their BBI partners.
The last time they made such decision the DP went ahead and supported the independent candidate in Msambweni who finally took the lead in the recently concluded by elections. People are asking whether the the DP is also going to do the same as he did in Msambweni.
The DP seems to take a different path when the UDA party has already fielded a candidate and now that the party is affiliated to him. This clearly shows how the ruling party structures have failed and members can be split to an extent of competing on very different grounds.
This comes at the time when the party members are continuousely differing on the most debated Building Bridges Initiative. There is a section of leaders who are disagreeing to the document and are asking for a more discussion.
