What will happen if Uhuru settles on Ruto? Next general elections are around the corner – the presidential race looks tight than ever with former prime minister Raila Odinga partnering with president Uhuru Kenyatta for possible endorsement.
In this article, we shall explore possible outcomes – political realignment and possible diversity of Kenyan politics in the 21st century if Uhuru reunites with DP Ruto. Raila Odinga is considered as only serious Ruto’s opponent in 2022 – Ruto will take campaign holiday if the ODM party leader declares he won’t vie 2022.
Is there any looming betrayal in the handshake side? Well, in politics everything is possible – you might hear ‘Ruto that from Uhuru – this is the right time to witness Raila’s influence in Kenya.
If the president decides to endorse Ruto instead of Raila, I think will not vie for president. Instead, he will pick his candidate to support. One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principal may benefit from Raila’s statement.
Herman Manyora explaining the diversity of politics in Kenya, “Raila is versatile, you cannot compare this man with DP Ruto – he will only need a short time to turn the ground to him. He got the experience” he said while explaining why Raila is yet to start 2022 campaign.
In 2002, when late president Daniel Moi backed then young Uhuru Kenyatta for the presidency – the former prime minister went to Mwai Kibaki. The duo friends won – Raila carried out presidential campaigns with Kibaki in hospital’s bed. What great work!
Going by political matrix, the outgoing president has little to do with the incoming ruler – Uhuru will handful of influence as far as the presidency is concerned. Uhuru to the reunion – which is most likely to happen, the situation will block Ruto’s ambitions thereby paving way for one of the celeriac babies.
It is one most exciting time to be alive – expect more political realignment before 2022. Next general polls will go down to history for generations. Expect a tsunami of the political wave once Uhuru welcomes Ruto back.
