Politics in Kirinyaga is heating up ahead of DP William Ruto's visit to the region. The deputy president's visit is highly anticipated. Yesterday he was welcomed through a poster to the region by gubernatorial hopeful Purity Ngirici. Today Anne Waiguru did the same and immediately thereafter said that her team had been summoned by DCIO in which she saw as a witch-hunt.
It is now being reported by Nation that a section of youth in Kirinyaga are rioting against the governor. They are burning campaign jackets belonging to Anne Waiguru. It is not clear their bone of contention.
Waiguru's decision to join UDA has caused mixed reactions. Supporters of Kirinyaga woman representative Purity Ngirici feel she has come to steal limelight from Ngirici who had shown interest to compete against her for the governor post. Other UDA supporters feel that she brings invaluable input to the party considering her popularity and political stature.
