Former Nairobi governor ,Mike Mbuvi Sonko has today received a major blow after the Court of Appeal ruled that he has ceased to be the governor since he has been out of office for more than ten months. The former county boss has been in and out of courts trying to prove that he was not ousted legally.
The ruling paves way for the swearing in of the deputy governor to become the county boss for the remaining duration. The DG, Ann Kananu will then have the opportunity to appoint the deputy governor of her choice once she assumes the role of the governor.

The embattled former vibrant governor of Nairobi county was impeached in December 2020 by the Members of County Assembly on grounds of abuse of office and corruption allegations. The move was later upheld by the Senate which found him quilt of the offences .
Ann Kananu was eventually feted with the sole responsibility of managing the affairs of the city county as the deputy governor.
