Political betrayal is common in Kenya politics. Loyalty is questionable in politics. Leaders have been defecting to other political parties as the next general election approaches. This is part of their political survival strategies.
Today the deputy president William Ruto suffered a major blow after a UDA allied legislator from Mount Kenya region decamped back to ruling Jubilee party. This recent defection will affect deputy president Ruto influence in the region.
The first term legislator from Githunguri constituency Hon. Gabriel Kago Mukuha joined Jubilee after meeting Jubilee leaders. The Legislator was warmly welcomed by Kieni legislator Kanini Kega back to Jubilee party. The Kieni legislator revealed this information on his official Facebook page and welcomed the Githunguri legislator back.
The Githunguri legislator held a consultative meeting with several Jubilee leaders today morning. Jubilee leaders present included Kieni legislator Kanini Kega and Muranga women representative Sabina Chege.
The Githunguri legislator had initially joined UDA party together with Kiambu women representative Gathoni Wamuchomba. The two leaders have been accompanying deputy president in the region. He was among leaders who accompanied deputy president Ruto for a church service at African independent pentecostal church of Christ at Kiambu county on September this year.
Below is the post of Kieni legislator Kanini Kega on his official Facebook page.
