There were many speculations that were made on whom Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua would finally deputize in the 2022 race. For long the iron lady remained silent over her preferred candidate. Their were claims that she may join the ODM camp and deputize Hon. Raila Odinga. During the Mount Kenya Foundation meeting with the One Kenya Alliance co-principals, she accompanied Mudavadi and in his own remarks Mudavadi said that he decided to go for the meeting with her as she is firm with her stands and never blinks or gets scared.
Others claimed that she may join Ruto's camp and this would scare Raila and Uhuru. However, recently Karua has cleared the air about her quest for power and being a running mate to any candidate. She said that a Deputy President's seat is dependent on the whims and mercies of the presidential candidate. She added that it is a seat where people are not nominated until May 2022. She stated that nobody has requested her to become their deputy. It is now clear that she is still waiting for the candidate who will pick her as a running mate.
