Bungoma County Deputy Governor (DG) Professor Charles Kibanani Ngome has urged Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka to be ready for a thrashing during next year's gubernatorial elections.

Lusaka who served as Bungoma County's first governor from 2013 to 2017, has declared his bid for the gubernatorial seat, currently being held by Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati (WWW).

Wangamati's Deputy Charles Ngome has welcomed Lusaka's return, promising him a resounding defeat in 2022.

"Lusaka welcome back. We will beat you at 7am. You are being lied to by a person called Weta (Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula)," Ngome said in Mabanga on Saturday.

"I tell people everyday that the person destroying Bungoma politics is Weta. He said Lusaka was bad we defeated him. Now he is saying Wangamati is also not a good person," he added.

Weta continues to be credited for ensuring Lusaka ascended to power in 2013, before playing another leading role to ensure Wangamati's victory in 2017.

In the 2017 gubernatorial race, Wangamati who vied on the Ford Kenya party ticket got 197,422 votes while Lusaka, who ran on the ruling Jubilee Party ticket came second with 175,929 votes.
